Not just the absence of disease

I have spent many years trying to live up to what others consider to be healthy. This has led to feelings of distress. I have finally come to recognize that wellness is not just the absence of illness but involves making decisions that lead to a balanced and meaningful life.

My goal has been to seek out ways to enhance my wellness daily. Through “Coffee with Nurse Kaye” I hope to help you determine your current wellness status, or lack thereof, and determine the goals that are important to YOU. Trying to live up to others’ ideas of wellness will only cause you more distress and lead to a further lack of wellness. Determine your own idea of wellness and work daily to reach goals that are important to you.

The idea is to reach a state of balance between emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual living so you are able to reach YOUR point of whole-person well-being.
